Marriage License Info

 

Requirements for a  marriage license issued in Kearney County

  1. Both applicants must appear together in person at the County Clerk’s office (plan on at least a half an hour for completion).
  2. Both applicants must supply a valid photo ID (Example: Driver’s License or Passport).
  3. Parental consent is required for applicants who are 17 or 18 years of age.  The parental consent form is to be filled out in the County Clerk’s office.
  4. Applicants must supply the following information for the completion of the marriage license:
    1. Applicant’s Social Security Number
    2. Full name and birthplace of both applicants
    3. Full name and birthplace of both sets of parents (First, Middle & Last including Maiden)
  5. If either party was previously married, provide the date the marriage terminated.  (Date of divorce decree, annulment or date of death).
  6. Marriage license fee is $25.00 (cash or check only).
  • License will be valid for one year from the date of issuance with no waiting period.
  • A marriage license may be obtained in any county (does not need to be the county of residence) and utilized anywhere in the State of Nebraska.

To obtain a Certified copy of a marriage license issued by Kearney County either stop by the County Clerk’s Office or mail a request with the following information and $9.00 check or money order:

  • Name of both applicants (including maiden name)
  • Month/day/year of marriage
  • Where to mail the certified copy mailed
